The Balcony Scene

ACT 2 SCENE 2

At the start of this scene, Romeo hides beneath Juliet's balcony and overhears her talking about him. He eventually comes out and they talk to each other. They declare their love for each other and arrange to meet the next day when Romeo has promised to marry Juliet.

ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY

Now my dear students, this is how we are going to do our version of the balcony scene.

  • There shall be a director, editor, technical and actors.
  • The actors: All boys shall play Romeo and all girls play Juliet. (except for the director and the editor)
  • Pick a line that suits you if it is not yet assigned to you.
  • Practice your lines in British English. Before deciding to record your voice.
  • The director and the editor shall work together in putting together the audio. Yes, your voice is pre-recorded.
  • You are going to do this in a modified chamber theatre style. Modified in a way that all characters shall be on stage but only makes movements when it is their time to speak.
  • This shall be performed in the lobby stage.
  • Click HERE for the script.
