PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE | Performance Task

This task is where you exhibit your photography creatively.

 WHAT TO DO:

1. Do your magazine in Microsoft Publisher, however if you are familiar with Adobe InDesign, it would be better.

  • Do not use PHOTOSHOP or any photo editing applications; however use it to add creativity and design to your magazine but should not include the text.
  • Designs can be done in Photoshop but texts should be encoded in publisher.

2. Create a name for your magazine; it should be original and not something that already existed.

3. Choose from among the images from your photoshoot a cover photo.

4. One photo for one page and the opposite page should contain descriptions of the photo.

See pages 10-11 of the MUSICA magazine CLICK HERE

  • Use readable fonts for your descriptions that ranges from sizes 14 - 16
  • Titles however, should be bigger and more striking than the descriptions
  • Paper size: 8.5 x 11

5. Do not forget to include an editorial board on page 2 of your magazine.

  • An editorial board contains the names of the team and their roles in the production of the magazine. It includes: editor-in-chief, associate editor, layout, writer, head photographer.
6. Page 2 of your magazine, or the page immediately after the cover page, should give an overview of the contents of the magazine.

6. Page 3, which is opposite page 2 should talk about PHOTOGRAPHY as an ART. This shall serve as an exposition to what comes in the next pages.

6. Decide how you want your back page should look like and what you want to put there.

Good luck!

PERFORMANCE TASK: NEWSLETTER for Grade 8 | 2023

In this output students are going to put together varied articles in a newsletter.

What is a newsletter?

It is a paper that is not as plain and as news-laden as a newspaper but not as feature-packed and as creative as a magazine. Hence it is something in between. You can be creative but not too much. You can put news but not too much.

There are templates you can use at Google docs and at Microsoft publisher. Use the one that you can work better between the two. Also consider which between the two application can give you better results.

You better check out the samples to see for yourself. CLICK HERE FOR THE SAMPLE STUDENT WORKS

For this years newsletter, take note of the following:

  • Paper size: 8.5 x 13
  • Font: Times New Roman-at least 16 (Article Titles); Arial 10 (Content)
  • Margins: 1/2 or .5 of an inch from top to bottom; left to write.
  • All stories must run through 2 to 4 columns depending on the space. Single column is a NO-NO, especially if it occupies the entire page.
  • Submit docx or publisher file and the pdf file at Google Classroom.
  • Each page must have a header (Page Titles) like this:

The titles you see here are the titles you are going to use per page except for FRONT PAGE, which contains the logo and name of your newsletter. Here are the articles to use for the designated pages:

Front page
Feature your favorite film from the SHORT FILMS FEST during quarter three:
  • You can find the thumbnails and the videos HERE
  • You can also get information regarding the results and other details HERE
  • Observe the elements found on the front page as indicated by samples.

Note: Do not write page number in this page.

This is now page 2 of your newsletter; hence page number must already be seen starting this page but shall start counting at 2.
  • This is where you shall put the full news you have written during class.
  • Add another news you can find in the net but make sure you write the author and which newspaper you took it from.
  • You also need to add the editorial board (where names are found) at the bottom part of this page. Since there are only two of you therefore there must be an EDITOR-IN-CHIEF and the LAYOUT ARTIST.
THE SOCIETY
This is now page 3. Here, you are going to feature a persuasive essay written by the Grade 10 students and make sure you have written their names as authors. Choose one from the following:
  • DO NOT copy-paste the entire essay; hence you are to pick paragraphs or important statements from the essay but of course it should follow the same order as it was written.
  • In other words shorten the essay.
  • Find photos or images that could best help visualize the idea you have picked.
  • Don't forget to add credits to the images.
  • Lastly, do not forget to write the authors' names.
SPORTS
This is now page 5. In this page, you are going to quote what Asianistas say about the Intramurals. Choose a number of quotes enough for this page.
Here's a sample format:

Then find photos that will showcase the Asianista Intramurals HERE

----------------------------------------
So, that's pretty it. Good luck with your Newsletters grade 8 and make sure there are NO UNNECESSARY WHITE SPACES found in your layout.

White space refers to the awkward empty portions of your paper.

Therefore plan your layout creatively and wisely.
