Here are the suffixes added to words to form words of the designated part of speech.

VERBALS

 Verbals

look like verbs
but they function as
nounsadjectives or adverbs.

Let's break the matrix into parts for further discussion.

Since Gerund functions as a noun, it also takes up a nouns roles: subject, direct object, subject complement and object of the preposition.
  • Crying will not solve anything.

Crying is the subject of the sentence. It is what's being talked about.

  • They admire my singing the most.
Singing is the receiver of the action "admire" thus it is an object of the verb. It is direct object since "singing" answers the question "what(What do they admire the most?).

  • My favorite activity is traveling.
Traveling is a linking-verb complement which means a noun found after a linking verb (be verbs). It is also known as a subject complement because it gives additional information about the subject.

  • I got paid for singing.
Singing is object of the preposition for. This means that the word is found after a preposition thus making its object.

  • The crying baby had a wet diaper.
Crying is a verbal in the present participle form. In this sentence, crying modifies the word "baby" which is a noun thus, making it an adjective.

  • He walked away from the wrecked car.
Wrecked is a verbal in the past participle form. In this sentence, wrecked modifies the word "car", which is a noun, thus the word "wrecked" is an adjective.

  • He lacked the strength to resist.
To resist is an adjective which modifies the word strength. Ask the question: What strength? ......answer:  to resist.

  • We must study to learn.
To learn is an adverb which modifies the verb study. It answers the question why. (Why do we study?Answer: to learn).

This is the handout I give my students:

PROM COTILLION and Group Singing | Game-of-Thrones Theme

Asianista Socials customarily does its COTILLION like no other (- Thanks to the brilliant mind of Sir Rommel Alvarez who started this.) The dancing goes on with a storyline that transitions from the first group of dancers to the last. We usually have four groups.

Disclaimer:

Our theme is Game of Thrones but the music we use for the dancing and singing do not necessarily come from the series. However, they are sound tracks used from other TV series that are valuable in attaining the storyline.

So here goes our storyline for the Game-of-Thrones themed socials.
